This quarter, the Go line showcases Libertine, another American design house. And since I'm not very familar with this designer, I've been reading everything I see with their name on it. This article at New York Magazine provides a great profile for this design duo so please check it out if you want to learn more yourself. I saw pictures of this Target line a few months ago and my initial response was - it's not really my style but I'll definitely check it out when it hits the red bullseye.
I must admit that when I stumbled upon the clothes today, they made me chuckle. Not because they're ugly or anything like that. I guess I just find skulls and cross bones with dolphins to be whimsical. Yeah, that's it. You just don't expect to see skulls and dolphins on an invert pleated skirt. (Not to mention a bird perched on the back of a jacket.) And apparently since Libertine's signature look includes skulls, the Target line is keeping with their style aesthetic. Here are some pics from the line. I'm not sure if I'll purchase any of the Libertine clothes since I didn't see anything that I just HAD to have. But you never know, clothes on the Target clearance rack have a way of just "showing up" in my closet.
