The title of this post could be, "When bad jeans happen to good people". This photo was sent to me by one of my dear friends. I won't name any names. But clearly, her attempt to dabble in the trendy trouser jeans did not go as planned. I'm certain she wasn't shooting for the Sponge Bob look!
Now I believe in helping people, as you all know, so let me offer a few tips to help my butt challenged friend.
1) Stay away from form-fitting, straight-legged jeans because they will accentuate the "boy" in a boyish figure
2) Look for jeans with back pockets and interesting detailing, which will add the illusion of curves
3) And while they don't work for most people, low-rise jeans are perfect for the long, lean type
I found this cute pair of jeans at Lucky Brand for $114. Notice how they emphasize the bottom, making it look rounder and slightly fuller. Sweet! Now Sponge Bob can stay on television and not on your backside.

I love Lucky Jeans. They are have a really great fit; especially for petites.
At the beginning of the season I went to Nordies to find some trouser jeans. I was about to throw down some $$ for a pair of Sevens but then went up to the junior's section and got a really cute pair that fit even better by a brand called "IT'Z" (cheesy, I know) for $40. I'm really trying to break myself out of the junior's section habit but it's hard.

Karen, I've never tried Lucky Brand jeans because I have that whole butt/thigh action going on. But I totally agree with you about the junior's department. At one point, I was buying ALL of my jeans from the Macy's junior's section because they were cheap and they had a good amount of stretch in them so they fit well. Lately, I've been branching out and trying new stores for jeans. The last pair I bought was the SJP Bitten jeans at Steve & Barry's for $14.98. Wait, that's probably still a junior's store huh? Oh well. I tried. :o)

LOVE IT! I will totally cop to that being my butt. It was hilarious to me that I could even look so awful. I sacraficed myself as a cautionary tale for people who want to dress against their body type. I have been beaten into submission by the horror that is me in trouser jeans.

HA!!! You're a brave woman Jess! Most people wouldn't admit to trouser jean/Sponge Bob butt! LOL But that's okay cause you're so thin, you can wear all of those designer jeans that make your butt look good!
