After my quick run into Target turned into 2 hours, I decided that I may need some rules to minimize the time and money spent in the "luxe on a discount" department store. Here are my self-imposed rules for shopping at Target.
RULE 1 - Make a list - If you make a list before you step into the store, you have a much better chance of getting in and out in a reasonable amount of time.
RULE 2 - Stick to the departments on the list - If you go into Target to buy deodorant and toilet paper, you really don't need to walk through the women's department. And whatever you do, don't even think about strolling past the ladies clearance rack. That little move will cost you at least 30 minutes.
RULE 3 - Give yourself a time limit - Implementing a self-imposed time limit may not be necessary for you but if you tend to get lost in the racks like I do, a time limit can be the difference between spending $20 or $50.
RULE 4 - Reduce the number of trips - I know people who go to Target several times in one week! Those multiple trips quickly add up. I've been limiting the number of trips I make to Target to once a week for a while now. But lately I've been in close proximety to the the bulleyes store and at seems like my trips have started to increase. It may be time to stretch those trips into every two weeks, after I make one more run today.

Tips on how to save time and money at Target are a good thing! I use to go 4 - 5 times a week because my local Target was in between where I lived and my boyfriend's place. Thank goodness we moved in together because now I only go every couple of weeks when we grocery shop. I honestly don't know how I afforded myself then!
