Such a fantastic moment. (In coordinated outfits no less!)
If you're having a moment where you're confused, frustrated, and unsure about where your life is going, consider the words of Barack Obama. And know that any dream you are brave enough to conceive, (yes) you can make come true.
I was rather exhausted last night but I had to prop my little eyelids open so that I could watch Hillary take the stage at the Democratic National Convention. And as she strode onto the stage in a bright colored suit (traveling pantsuits indeed!), I knew she was worth the wait. Watch her rousing speech and I promise, you will definitely want to keep going. I was talking to a friend of mine recently and I mentioned the cost of my handbag. I forgot why I brought it up (but trust me, it was relevant to the conversation) and he was slightly taken aback the pricetag. I then launch into my diatribe about why a good handbag is worth a few hundred bucks (it lasts forever and is a huge style boost for any outfit). And you may not realize it but, you actually save money because you're buying one fantastic bag versus four or five mediocre ones.
This conversation got me thinking, "How much is too much for a handbag." In my world, there's no such thing as spending too much on a handbag. Your style and your bank account should be the key factors in your answer. If you have any extra money to spend on your wardrobe, I believe it should be invested in your handbag (or shoes of course).
How much money have you spent on a handbag? And how much would you be willing to spend?
I've been eagerly anticipating the entry point of my new, sleek flats into my wardrobe.
And this picture captures the look I was going for: casual chic. With all the key pieces being pretty plain, i.e. the shirt and jeans, the focus is instantly targeted on the shoes. The scarf and belt add a little flavor. The result? A perfect look for a casual workday.

Not that any of you need me to tell you how to spend your money. I know someone's shopping because every time I roll onto a mall parking lot, I can't find a blimping place to park. But anyway, I digress. So where will I be perusing this weekend?
I will probably return to my new favorite antique store. It's called Kudzu Antiques and it's a goldmine full of beautiful furniture from another time. Think old school craftsmanship at decent prices. But not only do they have an excellent selection of antique furniture, they also boast these perfect little stalls with vendors selling vintage clothing, shoes, and handbags. Can you say vintage nirvana?
I spotted the cutest bag from the 70s and it was only $14. If you enjoy scoring great vintage finds in wonderful condition, you have to check out this fabulous space!
I feel an addiction coming on. My friend Diana sent me an email about this site months ago. I looked at it, but I didn't sign up. (My commitment issues were showing their ugly heads again.) Then I read about it again in a fashion mag. (I decided to look into it later. Of course, I never did.) And then my friend Sat send the link to Shop It To Me again last week. I finally looked at the site and signed up today. This super cool site let's you select your favorite designers and store brands from an extensive list. Then, depending on your preference, you'll receive emails telling you when you're favorite stuff hits the sale rack at various stores and websites. I chose to receive my sale emails on a daily basis. Shortly after confirming my selections, I received my first email and whoa nelly. I couldn't believe my eyes.
All of my favorite designers (kate spade or sigerson morrison anyone) and their corresponding sales were resting peacefully in my inbox. I may never have grocery money again.
Just don't blame me if you can no longer get any work done. Enjoy!
I know it's still technically summer but I can't help but think about fall. These peep-toe booties by Elie Tahari are the perfect mix of chic and sexy. And the neutral color plays well with fall's jewel tones like the season's favorite color purple. I'm envisioning them with skirts and sleek trousers and of course jeans. I can already see my style score increasing ten-fold with these lovelies on my feet.
You can find this stunning pair of booties at Zappos for $529.
I may be a little dramatic but I am so in love with these pants. They are the AK Anne Klein Delano pants and they are absolutely fabulous! You may be wondering why they're so great. Well, I'd be happy to tell you. I've been shopping a long time and I can't recall another pair of pants that fit my hips, thighs, and behind so well. And they miraculously fit my smaller waist too.
These pants are soft and extremely comfortable. The trouser style glides over my
legs without being clingy and overemphasizing their size. Oh, I almost forgot the crazy part to this story. These incredibly awesome pants were originally $109, but I snagged them at Belk (the Atlanta Phipps Plaza location of course) for $27! I also found a black pair with the slashed price of $24. Sweet!
You can find the AK Anne Klein line at Belk's (click for locations), Macy's, or Nordstrom. And don't forget to look for these pants.
