HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
There's just something about the beginning of a new calendar that propels us into thinking about starting fresh in many areas of our life. And for me, that fresh start feeling extends to my wardrobe. One of the easiest ways to create goals or plans for your wardrobe is to base your wardrobe solutions for the new year on the other goals and resolutions you made for the other parts of your life. For example, if you'd like to improve your professional image in 2009, you may want to increase the number of classic wardrobe pieces in your closet. So instead of purchasing a ton of t-shirts and party dresses, you'll make a wardrobe plan based on suits, blazers, and smoking new shoes.
Other ideas that may require a clothing update include:
- Make a plan - Don't just buy articles of clothing because they're on sale. Take some time to really think about the types of clothing you need for the things you want to accomplish.
- Buy clothes that fit and flatter - The beginning of the year makes many of us dream of the figure we once had. But while you're working on improving your body, don't be tempted to wear clothes that don't look good on the body you have right now.
- Spend money wisely - Now, how many times have you heard that line? But don't make the mistake of tossing it aside. Upgrading your look doesn't require you to spend money you don't have.
- Take your time - Unless Stacy and Clinton show up at your door with a debit card for $5,000 with your name on it, you don't have to redo your entire closet in a few days. Making a plan will help keep you on track and prevent from wasting time and money on unnecessary, ill-timed purchases.
