WHAT I'M WEARING - ELIMINATING THE FEAR OF SHORTS

Who doesn't love wearing shorts on a sunny spring day in April? Yeah, I didn't think there was anyone either. But I do seem to recall a time when I despised wearing shorts because of my thighs. Over the last few years, it seemed like my thighs were proportionately larger than the rest of my body. (No, I didn't mind my butt being bigger too. Trust me, there have never been any complaints about that.)  But recently my fear of baring my "thunder" thighs in public has been receding. I've been doing a 100% raw diet for last 34 days (eating only fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole/sprouted grains) and working out (for 30 - 40 minutes) at least 5 days a week. Shorts don't seem so scary these days.

Notice that I'm wearing a pair of shorts that is shorter in length than you'd expect someone with shorts disdain to wear, take a picture of, and later post on a blog. But these shorts, with a wedge heel, make my legs pop. The longer the short, the less you see of my legs. Which makes me look shorter.

WhatWentWrong - TOO HOT

How old is too old to wear this shirt? Well, I suppose there's no definitive answer but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if you're over the age of 18, you might want to pass on this one. You may get a pass if you're in your early 20s. But if you're clearly over 30, don't wear this.

The thing is, wearing this shirt when you're well into your 30s (or beyond), becomes a bit ironic. And not in a good way. I'm all for the simple t-shirt and jeans look on a hot spring day. Just leave the cutesy sayings (and giant lip graphics) to the kiddies.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!! BUY GREEN!

Undoubtedly this week, you've been inundated with messages about recycling, turning off lights, and carrying reusable bags. Well the message continues here today! Don't worry, I'm not going to berate you for not recycling. I just want to feed you a few green sites and products that you may find useful.

First, I know many of you have been carrying reusable totes to the grocery store and possibly to the mall. If you're been in the market for a stylish bag under $30, check out this cute bag from Hayden-Harnett. SITES WORTH SIGNING UP FOR

These days it seems like everyone has some kind register for this or sign-up for that program. I usually try to avoid these membership based sites (blame it on long-standing commitment issues) but there are a few that I look forward to everyday. If you're thinking about signing up for some shopping related sites, here are a few of my favorites you may want to consider.

Shop It To Me   I finally submitted to this shopping indulgence last year and I highly recommend it for anyone who shops at certain stores or looks for particular designers. Basically, you pick the designers you're interested in, the stores you frequent, and your sizes, and Shop It To Me will send you sale notifications for based on your selections. You even get to decide when you want to be notified. Naturally, I get my updates everyday.

You receive emails regarding the current sales and they only last a little over 24 hours in length. And you can only gain access to the site by invitation only. Daily Candy  Ah, Daily Candy. I just smile when I see this feel good title in my inbox. Daily Candy is a lifestyle site that touches on fashion, beauty, food, travel, and more. Not only is the information wonderful (I've been introduced to many of Atlanta's hidden gems because of Daily Candy), the writing is witty and fun.

Bluefly  This fashion mega-site has been around for over 10 years. And since its inception, they've consistently offered top designer labels at a discount. QUICK WAYS TO ADD SPRING TRENDS TO YOUR WARDROBE

Lately I've been hearing the same question over and over, "What's in style for spring?" You know my first response is, "Did you check out STYLEnosh?" But then, after I give a cursory grin, I usually dole out a few recurring themes I've noticed for spring.

STEAL YOUR MAN'S CLOTHES  You know I love the boyfriend jacket. (It was my top must have item for spring.) But lately I've spotted a ton of menswear inspired clothes from t-shirts to oxford heels. I love the idea of pairing a boyfriend cut blazer with a sleek pencil skirt. 

SPRING FLORALS  Spring is synonymous with flowers. And this year, those fun blooms are everywhere. You can find fantastic florals at newport-news.com. This dress and blouse (pictured below) were both $39. Not sure how to work these flowers into your wardrobe? Go simple and pair your floral prints with neutrals like a white jacket or khaki pants.

FEMININE DEETS  

Cutesy feminine details like polka dots and ruffles are hot right now. And if you go with the aforementioned floral piece, you'll be strategically hitting the feminine mystique as well. Oh, another great source for spring 2009 chic, girly pieces is the new Liz Claiborne collection. I've seen the gamut of femininity in this line including polka dots shirts, floral skirts, and gingham jackets. So much to choose from, so little time.

NEW SHOW ON FINE LIVING NETWORK: CLOSET CASES

I am super excited about the latest fashion television show to hit the scene. The reason I'm so giddy is because this show is hosted by one of my favorite stylists, Lloyd Boston. I'm sure you've seen Lloyd on Oprah or the Today Show. (Here's the video for his appearance on the Today Show last Friday.) And for you fashion die-hards, you may recall that he was a regular on a show called The Look for Less, hosted by Elizabeth Filarski, who we now all know as Elizabeth Hasselbeck, co-host of The View.

Lloyd's new show is called Closet Cases and it airs tonight at 10 pm ET on the Fine Living Network. The premise of the show is that Lloyd will use all of his fashion and style expertise to not only make you over, but he'll also upgrade your closet. I love the concept! And I can't wait to watch the show.
