Recently a few readers left comments about things I should check out. As I always appreciate a good referral, I got thee quickly to Google and here's what I found.
Thanks to Jennifer for suggesting I check out MyShape.com - This site is a cleverly designed personal shopping service. When you sign up for MyShape, you enter your style and dress preferences and your detailed body measurements. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes to enter the data. (I could have finished sooner but I was too busy laughing at My Boys. So hilarious.) After you've entered your information, the little geniuses at MyShape will assign you a particular body type designated by one of the following letters: M.Y.S.H.A.P.E. (Get it, "MyShape") So my shape is A - women's whose hips are broader than their busts and shoulders. When you click "Start Shopping", you're taken to a shopping area where the clothing is identified by the corresponding body type that works best with that particular item. And as a bonus for signing up, you'll receive 15% off your first order. I really like the MyShape concept. You can easily identify the clothing that fits your body type, which pretty much eradicates that pesky question, "Will this look good on me". What I didn't like about the site was the clothing seemed to target an older or more classic style aesthetic than mine. I tend to lean more towards a creative chic look. Think Tracy Reese or Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. line. But I did uncover some good picks on MyShape, like the cute jackets by Live a Little. And the ability to make your own custom jeans for $145. I tried out the custom jean maker and trust me, it's pretty sweet.
Skipping from fashion to food, faithful reader, Mo, suggested that I check out The Denim Diet in light of my recent foray into raw food consumption. A quick search and I found the website and book by Kami Gray - The Denim Diet: 16 Simple Habits to Get You into Your Dream Pair of Jeans. And while I haven't read the book, the reviews on Amazon suggest that it's a quick read full of tips for healthier eating and other suggestions to help you get into your favorite pair of jeans. I'm always a proponent of motivating people to eat more fruits and veggies and making time for exercise. If you want to read the first few pages of the introduction, you can find that on Amazon as well. Just click on Search inside this book.
