I know I've been m.i.a for a while but all this moving and new work has been a challenging schedule adjustment for me. I barely have time to think, let alone blog. Anyhoo, I thought I'd mark my return with a WhatWentWrong since I've been away for so long. And if we're going to laugh at bad fashion, we may as well laugh at someone who can take the jokes - ME!
I promise you, when I put this dress on I thought I was really stylin'. My sister gave me this dress because she's tall and it was a little too short on her long, lean legs. (Yeah, I know. I don't have any sympathy for her either.) I knew this paper bag shape on my body type would require a belt to create a waist. But now looking at the pics, it looks like I chose the wrong belt. And you can't even see my sparkly pink tank underneath so I look like a mass of brown sack!
The side view makes me look like I have a pot belly. And with the backside sticking out too, I'm thinking this was so not a good look.
The correction: I believe a thinner belt would be more suitable. If that doesn't work, I may have to pass this cute little dress on to someone who would look good wearing it. I'll be sure to keep you posted.
Have you ever worn something that you thought was a great idea at the time, only discover later that you really did look a hot mess?

I think that dress is cute, but I agree perhaps a thin red belt or gold? And you have on a tank? I was gonna comment on the days back when you cut your beaters for cleavage:-)
Lets just say this morning I had on a floor length maxi dress which thanks to some weight loss is big on me, and my hubby was like wow you look...roomy. Yeah so hot mess aside I still wore it to work with a waist cinching cardi and a coat since my office could double as a meat locker:-)

Mo, Please tell me you didn't just bring up the tank tops cut down to my stomach!(Thanks Di!) lol Okay, that's a throwback for sure.
Oh, and I love that "roomy" comment. Men are hilarious when it comes to women and our wardrobes. Congrats on the weight loss though. That has to feel great! Hope you're comfy in the meat locker, er, office. :)

I liked you look, but I can see how you seek to correct. August deed two says she sees a fourth of an inch of your tank in one pic( she finds allllll silver linings).
Maxi dresses and belts? Your opinion,please...Maxi dresses and munchkins? Your opinion, please.

Okay August Deed, that was funny - she saw one fourth of an inch! Thanks August Deed two. Somebody sees my effort. Now about maxi dresses and belts. It could work. In my brain, I'm thinking that a maxi dress could be cute with a skinny belt. I'll look for some good examples and post them. As for your second question, maxi dresses and munchkins, I tend to say no to short people wearing long dresses and skirts. In general, having anything hit between the knee and ankles on a person under 5'3" just makes you look shorter. HOWEVER, I did recently purchase a maxi dress that I absolutely love. I'll post a pic and let all of you tell me if I made a good choice or do I need to find the receipt 'mediately! lol
