Most people who know me, know that I love, love, love Lucky magazine. My friend Diana even says that sometimes I get too "Lucky like" when I wear my more eclectic outfits. I do admit that the editors at Lucky delve deep into fashion creativity. But that's the stuff I love because it pushes my own fashion choices to not be boring. If you think it may be too fashiony for your tastes, you may want to check out the second book the Lucky editors have produced called The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Style.
This book focuses on the different categories of style like American Classic, Rock and Roll, Euro Chic, or California Casual. Don't worry about fitting 100% into one category. Most of us will find that after examining our wardrobe choices, we tend to fall into a category or two.
Take me for instance. I can see elements of all 10 categories in my closet. But about 75% of my look fits in the Gamine category, which is described as, "an intercontinental mix of clean American lines and French insouciance." Insouciance means carefree. (And yes, I had to look that one up!) But it makes sense that my personal style is aligned with this group because while I wear a lot of classic pieces, I often present them in off-beat ways. I consider it my own personal quirky flair.
If you're looking for ideas on playing up your wardrobe or creating new looks with the items you already own, flip through The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Style. I'm sure you'll find fresh ideas on how to dress now.
If you have the book, I'd love to know which categories you think best describe your style.
