Today began another exciting, challenging cycle of 4 weeks of boot camp. I've been so busy the past few weeks that I forgot to post an update on my results at the end of the last boot camp. So here it is:
I have been diligently eating raw fruits and vegetables during the day and then cooked veggies and fish (or whole grains) at night. Combined with 5 days of tough boot camp in 4-week increments, I'm finally starting to see some phenomenal results. In the last 4 weeks, I lost 9 lbs and 2% body fat.
Why did I adopt this way of living? Well, I wanted to be truly healthy and reduce my high body fat percentage, which in April was way too high at 28.8%! (Now I'm at 24.4%.) Back in July, I lamented about my slow results and then it hit me: you can't expect your body to shed fat if you keep scarfing down potato chips. (No matter how "healthy" the package claims to be.) And surprise, surprise, I don't miss the chips. I can definitely thank eating raw for that.
As you may have guessed, I'm pretty psyched right now. There is still work to be done and I'm doing it! How's your workout going? Are you eating food out of your refrigerator or are you still sucking down sodas everyday? Don't wait til January to pledge your allegiance to fitness and healthy food. There's no better day than today to get started!

Nosh,
I am SO proud of you, you look awesome and can definitely see results! You looked great before but now you look happy as well, and that is great! I olve the necklace;-)
My personal goals are going well, I've been doing Zumba which is really helpin with my recovery and gaining strength. I was even able to jog for the bus this morning for the first time in 6 months. I am trying to incorporate clean eating into my diet and so far havn't done awesome but each week I'm getting better. Thanks for continuing to motivate.

I love it!! My girl is accesorizing some nakedness!!!! Great!!Gone then!SMILE!!!!
I appreciate that you mention how important it is to reduce that fat intake.A lot of us exercise and eat differently but not DIFFERENTLY enough.
I would work out and say because I did,I could stuff myself with a couple of pounds of fries each week--not the move.

@ Mo Great job on being committed to make progress after a tough injury. Sometimes people use their injuries as a way to get out of working out and getting stronger. If you keep working to make your diet produce rich and you're getting some regular exercise too, you'll keep getting stronger. Heck, soon you'll be running past the bus. :-)

@ August Deed Yeah, I decided to show a little skin today. But only to illustrate the body fat point. Most people don't realize that even though the work out regularly, they're still in fat storing mode. That's why I can do 5 days of boot camp, eat raw foods during the day and still have 24% body fat. My body is just now getting into fat burning mode after 3 months of making this lifestyle change.
You hit it on the head though. Working out doesn't mean now you can have fries on a basis. Or potato chips. Or cake. And I know that's what most of us think. Definitely not the move if you're trying to lose weight.

Thanks for sharing your fitness journey. It has definitely given me a LOT to think about. I feel like if I was your size I would be eating whatever I wanted. The fact that you are still wanting to work out to be healthy and not just for looks really makes me think about whats important. Not vanity, but health. Keep up to good work.

Karla Kaye, thank you for leaving your comment. If telling my story has helped you see another perspective of what it means to be healthy, then it is all worth it! I'll keep sharing. Thanks for listening!

You look so amazing! I want to start! Any tips to get started?

Hey Dorothy! The tip I would give is to get moving doing something active and most importantly over anything else, cut out sugar! I mean read the labels on what you eat. You will be shocked to see how many grams of sugar you actually accumulate in a day.
