Alright, I'll say it. Some people are just extremely annoying to buy gifts for. You buy them something pink. They wanted green. You snagged an iPad. Woo-hoo! They wanted a Macbook Air. What the??? Anyhoo, you get the point. These picky people get on your nerves. But you love them so you continue to search for the perfect gift. Enter this clip from the Today Show which contains some pretty good ideas on what to buy for those people. Freaking ingrates.
This clip gives a few essential tips for manueving through the Black Friday season. I'm calling it a season since Black Friday deals started last week. Happy holiday shopping!
The tips in the video will prevent another victim from succombing to fashion foibles. I especially recommend the part about minimizing your butt. Those heavily distressed, tight jeans are not your friend, ladies.
Working with what you got is always fashionable. If you're a woman with curves, this video from Yahoo! Shine's The Thread gives some helpful tips on how to highlight your assets. My number one tip for curvy women is featured. It's simple. Grab a belt! But watch out for those wide belts, which have the adverse effect of making people look wide instead of shapely.

One of my favorite things to talk about is fall trends. And fall 2011 is no exception. This video from the Today Show and Glamour magazine editor covers several key trends for the fall season, including lace, plaid, and capes. I personally like the concept of mixing plaid with other prints. I actually wore that very look yesterday so be sure to spot it in Friday's Work Wardrobe blog post.
With the temps hovering in the 60s and combined with a steady rain, it's the perfect time to start thinking about jackets. It's too warm for a coat but it's too chilly to go without anything on those arms. Luckily, there are plenty of light weight jackets to help us ahem, weather, these fall temps. Read on!

The shape and print on this wrap jacket sold by Modcloth.com for $72.99 is absolutely adorable! It's listed as a light jacket but it may be too heavy for warmer locales just yet. But at such an inexpensive price, I can't help but want to snatch this jacket up now.

It seems like the last few years the fashion gods have been going ga ga over anoraks. I can admit that I didn't jump on the trend. The traditionally casual jacket just didn't move me. Well, I'm moving now! I'm actually running straight to the anorak. I envision the lovely anorak featured above from Modcloth.com being worn in a more dressed up with skinny pants and heels. Oh, and don't forget the print scarf. And this neutral goes with more than you think jacket is only $57.99.

I love this quilted jacket from Zara.com! It's only $89.90 and comes in three versatile colors (army green, black, and tan). For all my people in places where the high barely reaches 60 degrees, this one is for you!

I wasn't looking for trench coats but this one from Banana Republic grabbed my attention for two reasons. One, it's plaid, which is a bit unexpected in a sea of traditional, tan trench styles. And two, it's on sale for $139.99. Plenty of sizes left to choose from. Hint, hint.
I knew I probably wouldn't be able to make it to Target on today so I went on Sunday and checked online just to see if any of the Missoni for Target line was available on the racks. I guess the folks at Target were wise to that trick cause I couldn't find one colorful, Missoni-esque piece in the store. LOL No worries. I looked online again when I woke up at the crack of morning to head to boot camp and guess what I found? Nothing. I guess the site wasn't ready at 5:30 am. But I just checked a few minutes ago and the eagle has landed! But seriously, the entire Missoni for Target collection is online and as expected, certain items are already sold out like a few pieces of luggage.
After perusing the clothing for women (and don't forget there is something for men and kids too), I found my two favorite pieces:
This black and white zig-zag pattern sweater coat for $79.99.
And this beautiful robe for $39.99
Get what you can, while you can. I was still shopping the site and I received a server error. Looks to me like a lot of people are already searching and buying up this collection.
Are you looking to grab anything (clothing, luggage, kitchenware, a bike) from the new Missoni for Target collection?
I must admit, I'm a little excited about Zara launching their online US store today. And though I don't buy a lot of clothing online, I like to have the option. But my favorite thing to do with online stores is browse and plan my next shopping course of action. (Yes, their is actual strategy involved.)
A quick look at Zara's online store and I noticed several beautiful coats making me yearn for fall. Wait, a quick look outside and I think fall is already here. Anyhoo, visit Zara and let me know what you think. Are you excited too? Now if we can just get H&M to add their US online store and life would be grand.
Why do we spend hours of time running around town before we take off on vacation or for a weekend jaunt? Weeks before I'm due to travel, anywhere mind you, I have no need or desire to go to Target or run into the mall to see what may be lingering on the racks. But a couple of days ago, three days before my trip, I had a burning notion to buy a pair of Tory Burch flats. I did feature a pair of Tory Burch flats in my blog post on Monday but surely that action didn't send me into a must buy shoes now kind of frenzy. Or did it?
I wasn't able to find the pair I really want. Sold out everywhere. Really, people? However, I did find this pair of Guiseppe Zanotti ballet flats for under $100 at DSW. Now I'm trying to decide if I should keep them or just hold out for my Tory Burch Reva flats I really want.
I decided to venture out to a different DSW yesterday and I uncovered the shoe motherlode! I love these white flats with the gold embellishment. Made by Tahari, they were only $42!
Decisions, decisions. Should I keep them both?
So, I can't be the only person who indulges in this kind of craziness. Do you find the need to shop for clothes or shoes BEFORE you take a trip?
The notion of comfortable, fashionable shoes seems like a mythical creature at this point. The shoes featured in the piece don't look like anything someone under 50 would wear. At least the very end they show some shoes that I can actually see myself wearing. I'm going to definitely check out geox.com for comfy ballet flats. Now if I can only find a pair of sexy heels that don't make the balls of my feet feel like their standing on needles. Sigh. What's a fashionable girl to do?
What do you think? Are your shoe selections based on style or comfort?
We're only a few weeks away from the latest Target designer collaboration. On deck is Missoni! The Italian design house known for its use of bold colors and that famous zig zag pattern. They've planned a full line for Target including clothing for women, men, and kids, bed sheets, luggage, and even bikes! For a little sneak peak, check out the first ad for the collection on Refinery29.
The Missoni for Target line is set to hit stores on September 13th. Some people are so giddy they're planning to camp out the night before just to get their hands on a piece of zig zag fabric! I'll just wait to see what's left later that afternoon.
