ARE MY LATEST OBSESSION, ANKLE LENGTH PANTS, ACTUALLY WEARABLE?

My adoration for slim cut pants that stop right at the ankle has definitely developed into a full blown obsession. And sure they're wearable for weekend typical activities like shopping and hanging out with friends. But can you wear these cute, little pants to the office? Especially an office that still requires pantyhose and long hemlines. Sounds like a new fashion challenge is born!

There are several colors, styles to choose from when it comes to this slim cut pants.

This look is so fashionable and "right now". Okay, so the tight, super slim cut pants probably won't work for the office. Unless your work environment is creative, of course. But the top left black pair can easily be transformed for a work appropriate look. Just add a blazer and simple heels and you are work approved! Save the tight fitting, look at my bum bright red pants for the weekend.

THIS WEEK'S WORK WARDROBE: FROM BARE LEGS TO SWEATERS

 Don't you just love fall? It's such a wonderful mix of (mostly) warm days and cool nights. Ahh, fall. My work wardrobe perfectly reflects this dichotomy. I started the week in skirts with no hosiery. And I ended the week in pants and socks. Are the warm temps gone 'til next year? I guess we'll have to see what next week brings.

MONDAY

I received a lot of compliments on this simple, work outfit. A button-down shirt, a pencil skirt, and heels. That's it. I was told, "You're dressed like normal people today." TUESDAY

Still rocking bare legs! The weather decided to keep pumping in the warm temps so I decided to go sans pantyhose. Again! This picture does not do these shoes justice though. WEDNESDAY

Ah, one of my favorite Goodwill finds! For less than $11, I snagged the jacket and pants. A suit for around the cost of lunch. You gotta love it. I'm not a fan of the 4-button suit so I added the forest green belt to make the look more pulled together.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THURSDAY

Yes I know my head is lobbed off in this picture but I'm okay with that since my hair was a little crazier than usual that day. This outfit looks plain but I'm actually wearing pinstriped pants, a black and cream, snakeskin belt, and argyle socks. It was pretty warm today so I selected another short-sleeve jacket. This time I added my leopard print scarf I found on the Target clearance rack for under $10. Technically, I shouldn't wear this denim jacket to work but it's Friday. The last day of the week can absorb some of those fashion risks a lot better than Monday. I think it's because people are focused on the weekend and not what you're wearing. If someone does mention it, I'll just say I got cold. :-)

DON'T PACK AWAY THOSE SUMMER DRESSES JUST YET!

It's that's time of year where we shift from the hot days of summer to the cool breeze of fall. And in some places, it's just freaking cold. Does that mean you have to give up your lovely summer frocks 'til the thermometer says it's warm enough to bring them out? I say, heck no. 

Folks, it's time to layer up!

I know people who hate layering. Most of them think it's too difficult to pull off without looking silly. But layering doesn't have to be a complex clothing matrix. Just think of this styling technique as a way to extend the way you wear the clothes you already own. Here are a few examples consider. Notice how the label summer clothes just may no longer apply.

Add a blouse underneath strapless dress. 

 

If it's a little chilly out, add a light sweater over a dress.

Or if the temps have really dipped outside, add tights to your shirt/dress combo.

WHERE'S A LIGHT FALL JACKET WHEN YOU NEED ONE?

With the temps hovering in the 60s and combined with a steady rain, it's the perfect time to start thinking about jackets. It's too warm for a coat but it's too chilly to go without anything on those arms. Luckily, there are plenty of light weight jackets to help us ahem, weather, these fall temps. Read on!

The shape and print on this wrap jacket sold by Modcloth.com for $72.99 is absolutely adorable! It's listed as a light jacket but it may be too heavy for warmer locales just yet. But at such an inexpensive price, I can't help but want to snatch this jacket up now.

It seems like the last few years the fashion gods have been going ga ga over anoraks. I can admit that I didn't jump on the trend. The traditionally casual jacket just didn't move me. Well, I'm moving now! I'm actually running straight to the anorak. I envision the lovely anorak featured above from Modcloth.com being worn in a more dressed up with skinny pants and heels. Oh, and don't forget the print scarf. And this neutral goes with more than you think jacket is only $57.99.

I love this quilted jacket from Zara.com! It's only $89.90 and comes in three versatile colors (army green, black, and tan). For all my people in places where the high barely reaches 60 degrees, this one is for you!

I wasn't looking for trench coats but this one from Banana Republic grabbed my attention for two reasons. One, it's plaid, which is a bit unexpected in a sea of traditional, tan trench styles. And two, it's on sale for $139.99.  Plenty of sizes left to choose from. Hint, hint.
